Hello,

There are much more checks than the ones you mention. Most are for security,
in terms of your computer not being compromised. Some others are to take
care of data corruption (e.g. when you download, data is verified) and a
very small percentage for product key validity of your XP CD key.

It is these checks that make your system stable despite installing so many
3rd party programs. Most of the checks help you to recover without informing
you. For example, if you delete a system protected file, System File
Protection automatically replaces it from its cache.

It is all based on our personal assumption that the company might
think in this way but
in actual fact you might not know what the company is thinking about,
neither do I....the answer to it
might be the combination of both methods, who knows......

Hello,

You are right that we don't really know for sure what happens under the
hood. If you are really worried, go open source. Although there can still be
malicious activity in the hardware chip itself (such as NIC or BIOS), the
risk is lower.
